Museum dioramas that recreate the real or fantastic world.
Model trains traversing the towns and landscapes of a scale world.
Shop windows in New York or any other city at Christmas drawing us into Santa's workshop, a Victorian living room, or a frozen skating pond within a snowy park.
All of these small worlds capture big memories of our past, places we've seen, singular points in our lives, or maybe the dreams and wonder of childhood.
Miniature worlds have always held a fascination for me.
I'm artist Ted Howard. Since early childhood I have always wanted to draw, or paint, or sit at a workbench with whatever tools and materials were available and try to create in miniature what my mind was imagining. Christmas and birthdays were the times to get new art supplies, paints, brushes, pens, pencils, paper, and that always wonderful new box of Crayola Crayons (the smell of which is still one of my favorites). Since my retirement in 2017, I've been able to concentrate more on these creative endeavors.
